Sawtooth Gobbler oak (Quercus acutissima) is an attractive, large, deciduous tree, 35-45 feet in height or taller with a rounded, broad, pyramidal shape. New spring leaves are an attractive bright yellow-green, and fall color varies from dull yellow to brown. It is a vigorous-growing tree that produces acorns at age 6 or slightly before. The acorns of sawtooth Gobbler oak are smaller than the regular Sawtooth Oak (½-inch long) and are produced in large quantities in the fall. They are quite popular with wildlife. Sawtooth oak prefers a well-drained, acid soil but will adapt to most soils except highly alkaline. Trees grow best in well-drained soil in the full sun. Irrigation helps trees become established, but ,once established, they grow very fast without irrigation. Cold hardy to USDA plant zones 5-9.

| Pruning | Oaks require minimal pruning. In early years, light pruning may be used to establish a strong central leader structure. |
| Fertilization | Do not fertilize at planting. Once the trees are established, fertilize in early spring (Mar-April) as growth begins. Do not fertilize in the fall, which could promote late season tender growth that can be damaged by early frosts. |
