The Dorsett Golden Apple Tree (Malus domestica ‘Dorsett Golden’) is a premier low-chill apple variety celebrated for its exceptionally early harvest, generous yields, and outstanding adaptability to warm and mild-winter climates. A favorite across the South, Dorsett Golden thrives in high heat while also tolerating winter cold down to -10°F, making it remarkably versatile. In ideal conditions, this unique apple tree can even produce multiple harvests per year, delivering extended fruiting potential in frost-free or subtropical regions.

Among the earliest blooming apple trees, Dorsett Golden often flowers as early as mid-January in warmer areas, setting large crops of beautiful golden-yellow apples that ripen as early as late June. The fruit offers the familiar sweetness of Golden Delicious, enhanced with subtle vanilla notes and a clean, crisp bite—providing fall-apple flavor at the very start of summer without the sharp tang common in other early apples. Naturally disease resistant and low maintenance, this apple tree is easy to grow and highly rewarding for home orchards and edible landscapes.

For growers seeking a reliable, early-ripening, low-chill apple tree that delivers big flavor, heavy crops, and extended harvests, the Dorsett Golden Apple Tree stands as one of the best choices available for warm climates.

Needs less than 300 chill hours.
