The Green Ischia Fig is a unique and flavorful fig variety known for its light green skin and deep strawberry-red flesh. This medium-sized fig offers a sweet, rich flavor with a hint of berry—making it a standout for fresh eating, preserves, and desserts. Its unusual green exterior also makes it less attractive to birds, allowing for more fruit to reach peak ripeness on the tree.

The tree itself is compact and productive, with attractive, deeply lobed leaves that add ornamental appeal to landscapes and edible gardens alike. Green Ischia is a self-pollinating variety, well-suited for warm climates, but it can also be container-grown and overwintered indoors in cooler regions.

Fertilization Do not fertilize at planting. Once the trees are established, fertilize in early spring (Mar-April) as growth begins. Do not fertilize in the fall, which could promote late season tender growth that can be damaged by early frosts.
Watering Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during dry periods. Newly planted trees should be watered regularly. This is the most critical step in the establishment of your new trees. Please see the Watering section under "How to plant and grow" in our Learning Center.
