The Santa Rosa Plum (Prunus salicina ‘Santa Rosa’) is one of the top-selling Japanese plum trees, prized for its exceptional flavor, reliability, and heavy production. This variety produces medium to large plums with reddish-purple skin and amber-red blushed flesh, offering a rich, sweet, slightly tart flavor perfect for fresh eating, canning, baking, and preserves.
A self-fertile Japanese plum, Santa Rosa also serves as an excellent pollinator for other plum varieties. In spring, it delivers masses of fragrant white blossoms, adding strong ornamental value and attracting pollinators. With its vigorous growth and rounded canopy, Santa Rosa Plum is ideal for home orchards, backyard growers, and edible landscapes.
Thrives in warm-temperate climates with 300–500 chill hours.

| Pruning | Open center pruning; prune in late winter to maintain shape and encourage fruiting |
| Fertilization | Do not fertilize at planting. Once the trees are established, fertilize in early spring (Mar-April) as growth begins. Do not fertilize in the fall, which could promote late season tender growth that can be damaged by early frosts. |
| Watering | Newly planted trees should be watered regularly. This is the most critical step in the establishment of your new trees. Please see the Watering section under "How to plant and grow" in our Learning Center. |
